All Meet Organisers will have now received a letter from the Rankings Coordinator setting out the requirements for the rankings.
The criteria are as follows:-
1. There will be long course (50m) and short course (25m) ranking lists. Pool lengths 33.3m and 27½yds will be included in the Short Course Rankings.
2. Only ASA club-registered swimmers will be ranked. It is intended that in the 1997/98 rankings the lists will be extended to include Scottish and Welsh swimmers, as GB Rankings. Only swimmers who are registered with the ASA or the Scottish or Welsh ASA will be included in the ranking lists.
3. To get results onto the rankings list, Meet Organisers must send in (to the Rankings Coordinator at the ASA office), a computerised results disc PLUS a hard copy of the results.
It is a condition of 1998/9 Designation that events approved in 25m/50m pools must send in their results disks within 3 days of the meet.
(b) Results must contain full date of birth (year only is NOT acceptable). Meets with only year of birth will NOT be put in the rankings.
NB Date of birth is the last 6 characters of the ASA Registration Number which, by ASA Law, shall be on all entry forms.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS CORRECT - DO NOT MAKE UP DATES OF BIRTH.
(c) Results must use the ASA standard club-codes of either 4 or 12 letters. Where a 4 letter code is used this should be 3 letter club code plus 1 letter District Code in that order eg COVM = City of Coventry (Midlands).
4. The hard copy of the results must state the name and length of the pool, together with the date of the events and sessions.
5. Only designated events will be accepted into the ranking lists.
(b) Times will be accepted from the first leg of relays at
ASA National Championships and International meets provided they are accompanied
by certified time cards or verified result sheets.
(a) Times recorded at overseas meets will not be accepted except those by
swimmers competing at meets abroad for a GB/England or ASA District Team.
Additionally the times of any other ASA Swimmer competing in those meets would
be included, on application.
