THE ASA NATIONAL PLAN FOR TEACHING
The National Plan for Teaching is a comprehensive resource
aimed at any organisation/individual etc responsible for
implementing a learn to swim programme.
Comprising six levels from non swimmer to advanced the national
plan provides a template for all learn to swim programmes.
KEY PRINCIPLES UNDERPINNING THE PLAN
- multi-disciplinary - wide range of aquatic skills
- emphasises the importance of initial orientation,
of being at ease and at home in the water
- development of the key skills of breathing, flotation,
streamlining and propulsion
- integrates the key skills to produce high levels of
technique on all strokes
- development of high reliability through repetition,
revision and consolidation
- identification of correct standard of skill performance
- direct relationships to the ASA Awards Scheme
- link into the competitive arena
- provides professional Development for teachers
The National Plan for Teaching will set the standard
